Grace, Finley and Oscar travelled to Cardiff for the Welsh Junior Open 2026 the first event of the season on the European Squash event list. Grace had a tough draw in the under Girls 17’s playing in a field of 10 players from England, Wales and France and was one of the youngest competitors. Finishing 8th in the competition to gain invaluable European rankings.

Oscar and Finley entered the Boys U15 event with a field of 21 competitors from Wales, Scotland, Ireland and as far as field as Singapore. They were seeded in the middle of the pack at 9/16. Finley drew the no.1 seed from Ireland in the second round and dispatched his very capable opponent 3-0 playing with determination and purpose.

Oscar had a slightly easier run onto the semi finals with straightforward 3-0 wins before coming up against the no.2 seed from Singapore. He played some of his best squash to date coming back from 5-10 down in the second game to win 12-10 and completed a 3-0 victory with a demonstration of fitness, strategy and resilience. At the same time Finley dispatched his opponent in the opposite semi-finals to set up a final against his brother.

Finley took the victory and the Welsh open title in a tough match with both young men showcasing their talent and athleticism.
