Saturday 1st July saw the HSRC Closed Competitions reach their conclusion after a month of fixtures, play-offs, injuries and of course plenty of high-quality squash and racketball. Witnessed by 60+ spectators who then stayed on for the annual club Summer BBQ, we were treated to a wonderful selection of matches - all closely fought and respectfully played
The finals were completed as follows:
HSRC Racketball Final 2023
Andy Beel vs Nick Hobbis, with Andy winning the match 3-0 (11/4, 11/8, 11/1).
HSRC Ladies Squash Final 2023
Paris Masters vs Eleanor Bowles, with Paris winning the match 3-1 (8/11, 11/9, 11/8, 11/9).
HSRC Over 50’s Squash Final 2023
Steve Johnson vs Dave Wood, with Steve winning the match 3-2 (8/11, 11/7, 9/11, 12/10, 11/3).
HSRC Over 60’s Squash Final 2023
Tim Cox vs Faz Deen, with Tim winning the match 3-0 (11/7, 11/8, 11/5).
HSRC Handicap Squash Final 2023
Vince Holden vs Dean Randle, with Vince winning the match 2-0 (21/20, 21/18).
HSRC Squash Knockout Final 2023
George Orton vs Ben Fenwick, with George winning the match 3-2 (11/6, 13/15, 11/2, 6/11, 11/6).
HSRC Squash Doubles Final 2023
Jackson Bowden and James Bowden vs Andy Beel and Richard Jackson. The Bowdens went on to win the match 2-0 (15/13, 15/13).
Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped to put on the show, including Tim Parratt for organising the competitions, Ali Nicholas, Terrie Godden and Amy O’Hara for doing a sterling job of the buffet and desserts, Charles Waterlow and Rich Nicholas on BBQ lighting duties, and to all the finalists for playing the games in the right spirit and for helping out marking other games too.
