On Saturday 8th November, we threw open the doors to welcome 56 keen players from across the country to take part in the Hinckley Squash Open 2025 — a one-day graded tournament split across four grades. Alongside strong numbers from our regular supporting clubs, we were delighted to welcome several new faces travelling in from Lincoln, as well as excellent representation from other counties visiting Hinckley for the very first time. With all four courts in action from the first ball at 9.30am through to the evening finals, the schedule was packed with competitive squash and plenty of tight matches.
As the day unfolded and players battled their way through the draws, the Grade A final was eventually contested by Ali Mutch and Ben Fenwick, who put on an impressive display for the watching crowd after a long day on court. In a gripping encounter, Ali held firm and offers few chances in taking home the £50 prize.
The Grade B final saw Harry Reedman overcome Mark Collins to claim the title, while the Grade C final was won by Anthony Partridge after a hard-fought match against Brad Wells. Rounding out the graded events, Alan Palmer prevailed over Jonathan Parker to secure the Grade D crown. All runners-up across the grades took home £25 for their efforts.
One of the most eagerly anticipated moments of the day — as always — was the one-point wooden racket challenge. This year both finalists hailed from Lincoln, and after a lightning-quick showdown Alex Bendy beat Charlie Jubbs one point to nil, walking away with the pot totalling £100. Not bad for a few seconds of work!

As always, a massive thank you to the people who volunteer their time on the day to keep everything running along nicely, particularly Brad Wells as our intrepid organiser, his trusty assistant Zak Potter, and the dream team of Ali Nicholas, Terrie Godden, Amy O’Hara, and Paul Goodwin. A special thanks to Amy for taking this year's photos in my absence.
