Squash & Racketball Box Leagues Shake-Up

When things in life begin to get stale we sometimes get a gut feeling for change. Whether it’s a new career path, trying something different with the barnet, or deciding on getting some long-overdue coaching from Jamsie… often that itch just doesn’t go away.

With that in mind, and with absolutely zero interest shown from the members I’ve asked on this subject, I’ve decided to shake things up with the squash and racketball box leagues and literally turn things on their head.

As of this morning the entire box leagues from top to bottom are inverted. Players in the bottom boxes before are now in the top boxes today, and vice-versa.

So, congratulations Roy Stokes and Dennis Sayer, you are now officially the best box league players at the club. You now have a target on your backs so tread carefully, swing freely, and keep asking for strokes!

Conversely, Aaron Kenney and Tim Steele down in the bottom groups - sort it out - you have a long road ahead and much work to do. Practice makes perfect!

This method has been successfully trialled in other clubs across the country, usually at this time of year, and it’ll no doubt prove popular at HSRC too. If you have any comments, complaints or suggestions please email them through to me (Alan) ideally before noon as I’m in meetings this afternoon.

Get involved in your club!

We want to remain a volunteer-run to keep your fees low. Can you dedicate an hour a week to help us?

Our club operates on a ‘Not For Profit’ basis, with most day-to-day running undertaken by volunteers and members of our committee. This support helps in keeping membership and court fees much lower than other squash clubs, with arguably superior facilities.

From time to time we will put the word out if we require the help in a particular department, but in general terms if you would like to get involved and offer a little of your free time to progress the club please send us a message here.
