‘In the nick’ of time

Latest news, events, and updates from Hinckley Squash & Racketball Club

The PSA Challenger Tour Returns to Hinckley and it’s bigger and better than last year!

This year with separate Men's and Women's $3K draws

Following the success of last year’s PSA Challenger Tour event last March we are proud to announce that not only is a Men’s 3K event returning but we will also be having a parity Women’s 3k running at the same time!

From Wednesday 21st to Sunday 25th May a truly international field of 24 male and 24 female professionals will grace the very courts you play on once more in a real showcase of skill, grit and determination.

Those of you who came last year will remember some truly epic battles including between our very own James Bowden and Rory Richmond in a true youth vs. experience four-setter, as well as Ali Mutch providing a strong round 1 test for the eventual winner Omar El Torkey... and that was just the morning of Day 1! There was of course that 83 minute 5 set marathon between Omar and crowd favourite Rhys ‘The Welsh Whippet’ Evans that is still being discussed at the bar to this day.

This year James and Ali will be taking to the courts once again, with further local interest from Rachel Calver of David Lloyd and Ameerah Ismail from Cleaver Squash Club.

As with last year, the club will remain open throughout the competition with some slight restrictions. For example, club night will still run on the Friday but on Courts 2 and 3 so you can get yourself on an adjacent court to the real action!

We’re really looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible there so please save the dates and keep an eye out in future communications for draw details, sponsor profiles, a request for help from volunteers to a work party to get the club looking its best, and maybe even a few food and drink deals.

If you’d like to get involved in helping run the event then please reach out to Tim Solley on 07943 970 232.

Stay tuned!

5 Nations success for Oscar and Finley

England retain their championship crown

Oscar and Finley Brown both played a blinder last weekend, pushing through four matches each at position 1 and 2 in the England team of six players against the best of Scotland, Wales, Ireland and France. They won all of their matches 3-0 to further cement their status as No.1 and 2 in Europe for their age.

In May this year the boys turn 13, so will move up an age bracket to 'Under 15', taking on the challenge of playing much older and stronger boys - a challenge they will no doubt relish.

Congratulations to them both and their team mates in the U13 and U15 teams.

Upcoming Home Team Fixtures

We're now approaching the last few weeks of team squash before the curtain comes down on the 2024/25 season. Why not come along to the club to support our teams as they dig deep in the remaining fixtures?

Get involved in your club!

We want to remain a volunteer-run to keep your fees low. Can you dedicate an hour a week to help us?

Our club operates on a ‘Not For Profit’ basis, with most day-to-day running undertaken by volunteers and members of our committee. This support helps in keeping membership and court fees much lower than other squash clubs, with arguably superior facilities.

From time to time we will put the word out if we require the help in a particular department, but in general terms if you would like to get involved and offer a little of your free time to progress the club please send us a message here.
