A lot going on, including a BIG men's first team game against Rugby Stags

This edition of the newsletter attempts to keep you up-to-date with competitions just gone, and events upcoming. The main event in February will be our Squash 1st Team playing at home against Rugby Stags on the evening of Thursday 11th February, starting at 7.20pm. Expect Rugby to bring their big hitters such as ex-head coach Guy Pearson and potentially Sarah Jane Perry. We need to beat them to keep our championship dreams alive, and we need your support to help us get over the line!

We’re always happy to host an inter-counties fixture!

Last Saturday 1st February, Leicestershire Senior Men's Team (featuring club members Ali Mutch and James Bowden) took on the best from Derbyshire and Notts, with plenty of local supporters cheering them on. Ali won both of his matches with his usual prowess, and Jamsie came up just short against Welsh squash prodigy Rhys Evans who previously made an impact as a semi-finalist at the 2024 PSA Hinckley Challenger.

A special ‘thank you’ goes to Ali Nicholas, Terrie Godden and all of their team for looking after the bar and bacon sarnies that fuelled the event.

... and our ladies are always keen to get involved too!

Also in action on the 1st February was Leicesterahire's Ladies Inter-County team, playing away in Essex. Leicestershire’s squad included not one but two HSRC members amongst their ranks… fourth team dynamo Georgia Mutch, and member of the Brown squash dynasty, Cath Brown.

Our team beat Norfolk 4-1 in the morning session of fixtures with Georgia and Cath both winning their games, with a tougher opponent in the Essex team following that afternoon. After a 3-2 win there with Georgia triumphing and Cath just coming up short against strong opposition, this was an overall excellent result for the county and our club too!

Upcoming Home Team Fixtures

We have a few remaining fixtures before a week off for half-term. Why not come along to the club to support our teams in action?

Get involved in your club!

We want to remain a volunteer-run to keep your fees low. Can you dedicate an hour a week to help us?

Our club operates on a ‘Not For Profit’ basis, with most day-to-day running undertaken by volunteers and members of our committee. This support helps in keeping membership and court fees much lower than other squash clubs, with arguably superior facilities.

From time to time we will put the word out if we require the help in a particular department, but in general terms if you would like to get involved and offer a little of your free time to progress the club please send us a message here.
