‘In the nick’ of time

Latest news, events, and updates from Hinckley Squash & Racketball Club

There's been a lot going on at the club over the past few months, with much more to come. Just a quick note from me to thank you all for your support and participation in our recent events. It's great to see our little racket community come together and get involved. Thanks! Alan.

Sat 5th July • Club Comp Finals from 4.00pm • Coals Lit 6.30pm

With the club competitions well underway, attention turns to the finals night on Saturday 5th July which by tradition is combined with our Summer BBQ as a celebration of the end of the squash year.

BBQ tickets are £7 for adults, £3.50 for children under 12. Tickets give you access to a wide range of buffet and desserts. Bring your own meat!

Buy tickets at the bar or via the court booking website below. Write your name down on the sheet at the bar to show others that you plan to attend. Tickets available until Monday 30th June.

Reminder: You don't need a BBQ ticket to come to the club, have a drink and watch the finals. Tickets are just for those wanting to partake in the buffet.

The PSA Smyths Toys Hinckley Challenger 2025 packed in the crowds for some amazing squash!

Thank you for your support

In late May we opened our doors to the wider squash world, with mens and ladies $3,000 prize tournaments for young squash talents from across the globe. It was great to see so many members coming along to watch the action across the week, especially the semi-finals and finals where it was very much standing-room only three deep overlooking our show court 4.

We have a full write-up with some photos below for those of you who couldn't make it and are getting a touch of FOMO.

Dinosaurs League Champions 2025!

After four rounds of competition on Tuesday nights in April and May, one team rose above all with the most number of game wins to take the 2025 title. Pictured above is (from left to right) organiser Tim Parratt, and chairman Steve Gaisford presenting the prestigious plastic trophy to members of the winning team: Ato Stephens, Jonathan Parker, Nick Hobbis and Heath Jennings, as the jealous audience looks on.

Pictured below is a group photo of many of this year's dinosaurs!

Thanks go to Tim Paratt for doing a sterling job organising the competition and corralling the 40+ players milling about in the lounge area each week. Feedback has been excellent from all involved, and from those who didn't realise quite what it was about but came along to watch anyway. We'll look to run other events of this nature in the future before the Dinosaurs League 2026 lumbers into view.

The snooker table has been refurbished

At the end of May, our 1920's snooker table was brought bang up to date with a professional refurbishment - meaning new cloth, new cushions, and new pockets, at considerable expense.

We have a large number of members playing on the table, so it's very important that we treat the table with due respect to keep it in good shape for as long as possible. A reminder to members that:

  • Children are not allowed to play on the table.
  • Drinks are not to be rested on the table, even if covered.
  • Please use the soft brush provided to brush the table after you have finished taking care to always brush with the nap, from the baulk end towards the black end.

Get involved in your club!

We want to remain a volunteer-run to keep your fees low. Can you dedicate an hour a week to help us?

Our club operates on a ‘Not For Profit’ basis, with most day-to-day running undertaken by volunteers and members of our committee. This support helps in keeping membership and court fees much lower than other squash clubs, with arguably superior facilities.

From time to time we will put the word out if we require the help in a particular department, but in general terms if you would like to get involved and offer a little of your free time to progress the club please send us a message here.
