90th Anniversary Exhibition Night Details Announced

Saturday 20th September

Not long now… our 90th Anniversary Exhibition Night is taking place on the evening of Saturday 20th September and it’d be great to have you join us.

We’re pulling out all of stops on this one, with 3x World Champion Nick Matthew (previously WR #1), PSA 2024 Hinckley Challenger runner-up Rhys Evans (highest WR #126), Lucy Turmel (highest WR #23), and local hotshot Alicia Mead (highest WR #44) taking to our courts on what promises to be an absolute feast of squash.

We can now announce further details for the day we have planned:

Physical Tickets
Upon arrival on the 20th September your name will be ticked off the sheet and you'll be provided with a wristband. These are to be worn throughout the event as it helps us know who should/shouldnt be in the building. It also helps the caterers know who should be getting fed!

Junior Clinics
These will take place 14:00-15:30 with all four players across all four courts. The actual structure of the session will be dependent on timings. Reach out to James Bowden on ‭07757 771021‬ to register interest. Players and parents will need tickets for the exhibition to take part in the junior coaching, and this guarantees them a spot to watch the exhibition matches.

Play the Pro
Each of the four professional players will be available for just four 20-minute 'Play the Pro' slots, from approx 15:40. These are available on a silent auction basis so email your bid amount and choice of pro privately to comps@hinckleysquash.com and we'll be in touch with your time slot if you've been successful in the auction.

Exhibition Matches
These will start at approximately 17:40 with a break in between each to give you time to grab a drink from the bar.

Food
Delicious slices of freshly made pizza will be being prepared by The Hidden Gem Pizza for ticket-holders only between 15:30 and 17:30 during the Play the Pro sessions.

Chances to see, and maybe even play, pros of this quality don’t come around often. Tickets are strictly limited due to capacity restrictions, so I encourage you to purchase your tickets quickly to avoid disappointment. Guests welcome. Secure yours now!

£15 for adults, £10 for under 16s. Ticket includes pizza!

Big thanks go to club member Neil Tuite, whose generous sponsorship of this event has enabled it to feature the A-listers above. His company, Aaron Sandford Cars, pride themselves on offering quality used cars you can trust — at prices that make sense. You can visit them just around the corner from us at 2 Nutts Lane Industrial. Estate, Hinckley (LE10 3EJ). Thanks Neil!

Join us to toast to the future of our club - 90 years young and 10 years at Maple Drive - with the best in the business on hand to teach us a thing or two!

Team Player Order of Merit

With the team season starting in mid-September, we need to update our player roster, known as the Order Of Merit (OOM). A copy of this is currently on the noticeboard outside the men's changing rooms.

If you are new to team squash/racketball and wish to be considered for team selection please add your details to the OOM. Similarly, if you're taking a break this season please cross your name off the list.

The list will be available until 1st September so please make your wishes known by then.

Preseason Team Night

Tuesday 9th September - 7.30pm

All players and captains get together. An hour's get-together to usher in the new season, introduce new players to their teams and allocate their new shirts, get photographed in team kit, and run-through our aims for the season.

Returning players are requested to bring their team shirt and racket, for photography purposes.

Non-team players are also welcome to come up to the bar and offer positive encouragement to the brave men, women and children who will be representing our good name in destinations across the county come September.

Last chance for the Hinckley Racketball Open 2025

Saturday 13th September

There's still time to reserve your place and take part in the 1st ever Hinckley Racketball Open. There are only ~12 places left across all grades, so now's the time to book on.

A one-day tournament much in the same vein as our popular Squash Open, we are opening our doors to the wider racketball world in a day of friendly competition in a range of grades.

  • A Grade (12 places)
  • B Grade (12 places)
  • Ladies (6 places)
  • Over 40s (8 places)
  • Over 50s (8 places)
  • Over 60s (8 places)
  • Fun Doubles (6 teams)

Each grade will get a minimum of three games throughout the day. We are not sure about the format of the Fun Doubles yet, it'll be dependant on participation.

Cost
£20 per grade entered, which includes your own tournament t-shirt (or a choice of vest or t-shirt for ladies). If you want to play Doubles in addition that's an extra £5.

Prizes
Winner of each grade receives £50, with £25 to the runner-ups, with the exception of doubles where you win nothing but respect!

Date
Saturday 13th September. Start time TBC.

Sponsor
A massive "thank you" to The Recuitment Station for sponsoring the Hinckley Racketball Open 2025. The Recruitment Station is a local business that specialises in finding the right talent for your business and placing quality candidates in great roles. Their sponsorship helps greatly in making this event viable, so we are thrilled that they have come on board to ensure this tournament hits the ground running in its first year.

Get involved in your club!

We want to remain a volunteer-run to keep your fees low. Can you dedicate an hour a week to help us?

Our club operates on a ‘Not For Profit’ basis, with most day-to-day running undertaken by volunteers and members of our committee. This support helps in keeping membership and court fees much lower than other squash clubs, with arguably superior facilities.

From time to time we will put the word out if we require the help in a particular department, but in general terms if you would like to get involved and offer a little of your free time to progress the club please send us a message here.
