‘In the nick’ of time

Latest news, events, and updates from Hinckley Squash & Racketball Club

Eric Lloyd

Unfortunate news reaches us that Eric Lloyd passed away on the 15th January.

Known to everyone from our days back at Brunel Road, Eric was a regular squash player and very much one of the characters that defined our time at that venue.

Eric's funeral service will take place at Countesthorpe Crematorium on Thursday 5th February at 3pm. The wake will follow on at The Black Horse on Upper Bond Street, Hinckley – Eric's pub – from 4pm.

Eric's Obituary can be found online here.

A thank you from Hinckley and Burbage Lions Club

Club member and Lions representative Tony Parratt has asked me to thank the members of our club for our recent donation to their Christmas Food Bank Appeal, with monies raised from our bar collection box.

We encourage you to visit the Hinckley and Burbage Lions Club website to find out more about their work and see how you can get involved in their efforts.

Hinckley Squash On Tour June 2026

Last few days to reserve as part of the group booking.

Read on if you fancy the chance to test your silky squash skills out on the continent.

The Frans Otten Cup is a two day graded squash open tournament taking place over the weekend of 20th-21st June 2026 at the Frans Otten sports centre in Amsterdam. As another squash club located next to a canal, we're thinking of sending a delegation!

Our squash fourth team captain Zak Potter had a great time at this event earlier this year, and has made it his personal mission to invite others along in 2026.

Group arrangements (19th to 23rd June 2026) and more to follow in due course depending on uptake, but if you like the sound of a weekend of friendly competition at a wonderful, newly refurbished 21-court squash centre in one of Europe's most vibrant cities, then reserve your place with the organiser using the link below.

Please then let Zak know you've done this on ‭07904 955447‬ before 31st January and add your name onto the noticeboard sign-up sheet. Zak will then keep you posted about the arrangements as we finalise them.

Upcoming Home Team Fixtures

Why not come along to the club to support our teams in action in the following upcoming fixtures?

Get involved in your club!

We want to remain a volunteer-run to keep your fees low. Can you dedicate an hour a week to help us?

Our club operates on a ‘Not For Profit’ basis, with most day-to-day running undertaken by volunteers and members of our committee. This support helps in keeping membership and court fees much lower than other squash clubs, with arguably superior facilities.

From time to time we will put the word out if we require the help in a particular department, but in general terms if you would like to get involved and offer a little of your free time to progress the club please send us a message here.
